kmtc nyeri campus about: September 2015

INTRODUCTION

Hey... I am Dennis a student in Nyeri kmtc. I decided to create

this blog to help anybody who want to know more about KMTC NYERI

CAMPUS especially FRESHAAS.I know the feeling I was there not long ago. You

are at home and you are going to a complete new world you are curious

about everything in this campus? Don’t worry imma help you out. When I

got a admission letter , I goOgled everything about nyeri campus and

found one blog which helped me a lot though it was old and a lot of

changes had taken place. I hope this blog will be of help to you all..

ABOUT

The college was started in 1948 as a School of Nursing where it was training Kenya Enrolled Nurses. Later the institution started Enrolled Community Health Nursing programme and later on the first class of KRCHN (Diploma) was started in March 1995. In 1977, the Department of Environmental Health Sciences was started where it was training Certificate course in Public Health Technicians but was later upgraded to Diploma Level.

Certificate course in Medical Laboratory Sciences was started in 1981 until later when it started training Diploma programme.

In September 2005, the Department of Clinical Medicine was started and is due to quality its first class later this year (2008).

EDUCATION

IN NYERI campus is no joke I swear but this shouldn't scare

you. Many have passed through the system and did pass so who are you

not to. This campus offers the following faculty;

nursing
Clinical medicine
Imaging
Environmental health science
Medical lab
NB:ONLY DIPLOMA COURSES ARE OFFERED

INFRASTRUCTURE

. About this I can say some improvements are

needed. CLASSES are well built but not enough at times. DINING HALL

serves Its purpose but food there is not good enough no offence to

'Gitonga' the cook. LIBRARY is poor that one no apologies old books

cant accommodate more than 60 students at a go. IT LAB I can say Mrs.

ndora has done something. For those who love Internet like me there is

fast Internet about 5mbs so this will favour you a lot here no

complains expect the administration need to expand it. HOSTELS every

room has 4beds ,a closet (might be broken),chair and table (might not

be available mostly in Male hostels(staying in hostel is you own

wish and there are some rules there too ie;guys no going to ladies

hostels and vice-versa OUCH that sucks I know but rules are rules

ukishikwa 6months suspension..you are not allowed to cook in the

hostels thus cold water to shower.... few thieves...no privacy.....to

avoid above you can rent a house outside the school.

HALL used for functions i.e. C.U &YCS services and others...

Am done with infrastructure

ENTERTAINMENT

For entertainment there is a screen don’t know how many inches but is

good enough it is equipped with a dstv decoder if you love football

movies music animations great..Sorry but in KMTC NYERI TV is only

source of entertainment. ..But don’t be disappointed there is WI-FI

personally this is my best form of entertainment I can game online

YouTube listen to any radio station in the world online..Download

staff social media i.e. instagram @ebbydennis follow me imma follow

back. Basically Wi-Fi for me is everything if it comes to

entertainment.

GAMES

OUTDOOR GAMES:Hockey, Rugby,Volleyball,Football,Netball & finally

Basketball this where you will find me .ooh n skating This is not for everybody you buy your own skate shoe and I train you. Just a few students skate. INDOORGAMES: chess draft table tennis lawn tennis badminton darts etc

unfortunately we don’t have a field of our own go to play at a nearby

high school. We compete with other KMTC campus. Going for Games are fun

trust me. Everything is provide by school.

RELIGION

there is Christian union(C.U) &Catholic association (C.A) and Islamic.

It good to stay In touch with God so

Church is necessary. You might not feel like going to CU or CA you can

attend other nearby churches ie pcea nyamachaki, nyeri Catholic etc

for Muslim there is a mosque nearby.

UNIFORM

sucks but there is no otherwise .

FOOD

we have a mess food is sold and the menu depends on the kitchen

management in short it like a hotel.You might find food there sucks

you can eat in other hotels outside school.You will weigh where you

feel best served if you are a luhya or luo and you love n can finish

big pieces of ugali there is 'kwa mathe' if you love fish 'kwa kevo'

you will be well served.for chips chicken pork there is pork point

anyway food ain't a problem.you will familiarise with the names later

FUN

if you love fun in NYERI you create yours don't come with big

expectation because you will be disappointed..(i was).

From Friday evening to Monday morning you are free to do anything go

to clubs hiking all that shit but you know yourself better do you!!

FRESHAAS BASH held once yearly it a day we welcome fresha their is

performances dancers and a disk-joker(DJ) to turn up the party you can

perform you own crap if you wish.This night is complete by having a new

MR&MRS KMTC NYERI so if you can model it your chance to do your thing

because who knows you can be Mr or Mrs kmtc nyeri. This only day you have fun inside the school.TERRIBLE! !!!

FEEDBACK 2016 AUGUST/SEPTEMBER

First I wanna thank everyone for reading my post. Lately I have received calls and most of you are asking about accommodation(hostels) and meals, accommodation is 10000 kshs but there has been rumors it has been increased to 16000 am not sure how true this so I can’t confirm anything about that.The earlier you come on reporting day higher your chances to get a hostel it usually 1st come 1st serve.

About the meals is pay has you eat in short you pay at the cashier you are given a receipt with you give the cook and serves you with the food you bought simple as that.
